my favorite fabric store, textile fabrics has the greatest sales. my personal favorite is when they slash the entire store’s worth of fabric 40%-50% off 2x a year (in january & july, naturally). my second favorite is when they pull all their OOP patterns – for every $10 you spend, you get to choose a free pattern. i don’t know about y’all, but i can always find an excuse to buy shit at the fabric store, so i trekked west of the river with miss lauren winter & we picked ourselves out some goodies. i’m not going to bother with the stuff i bought – it’s pretty boring, albeit necessary, sewing notions like machine needles & white thread & *yawn* is anyone still listening? but check out the patterns i snapped up when they finally allowed me in the back room

vogue 8156, claire shaeffer’s custom couture collection ooh la la
i actually squealed when i found this one, and the lady next to me remarked, “giiirl you must have just found something amazing!”
they also had a claire shaeffer jacket, which i considered grabbing, but i must have considered for too long because by the time i had made my decision, it was already gone
oh well, it was kind of ugly (i can’t find an image online so you’re just gonna have to trust me) & in a much larger size than i would have needed, so i guess it’s better that it went to someone who is going to use it and love it, instead of me, who would just be using it for the instructions

vogue 1059 alice + olivia pants
LOVE these, i am thinking about making them in some dark stretch denim.
the instructions on the claire shaeffer pants are interesting. ideally, i’d love to use them with v1059 for denim pants, but i know some of the techniques won’t work (like easing the pants into the waistband with lots of steam, instead of traditional darts). i do love that they include handworked buttonholes.
i also love this:

reason #817 why everyone needs a clapper
it’s stormy & rainy out today, so hopefully i’ll be able to finish my sister’s dress (after i ceremoniously burn the instructions, of course) & then i can get started on a new goody for myself
the hardest part is figuring out which one to work on next – i’m thinking vogue 1227 in that gorgeous flea market barkcloth.
